Amman, Jan. 4 (Petra) – The Jordan Customs Department has begun implementing the second phase of the Cabinet’s decision to waive fines in customs cases discovered before January 1, 2025, for which official seizure reports were recorded.

In a statement issued Sunday, the department said the Cabinet, as part of its continued measures on fine waivers, approved extending the exemptions to eligible cases discovered before the specified date, in line with previously issued decisions.

Under the second phase, fines will be reduced by 40 percent in cases where no customs duties or taxes are due on the goods, and by 75 percent in cases where duties and taxes are owed, provided settlement procedures are completed by June 30, 2026. The decision also includes a full waiver of administrative collection fees upon payment of the principal amounts due.

The department said the exemptions will be applied in accordance with the percentages set out in earlier Cabinet decisions and will not affect the legal rights of any parties involved in the cases.

Jordan Customs called on citizens, traders, and investors to benefit from the decision, which was issued based on a recommendation by the Economic Modernization and Development Committee, with the aim of facilitating settlements, resolving outstanding cases, and supporting the investment environment.

The department noted that beneficiaries may settle the reduced fines through installment payments, provided the final installment is paid before June 30, 2026.
